“The World Sound Healing Day” evening February 14, 2023 - 7-8.30pm

On February 14, 2023, Villers Abbey is taking part in "The World Sound Healing Day" with a special evening dedicated to singing for healing.

Since 2002, February 14 has been designated as the International ‘World Sound Healing Day’. This day was initiated by Jonathan Goldman in the United States, a pioneer in the field of sound therapy and the use of the voice as a tool for inner exploration and therapy. It brings thousands of people together from all over the world, singing sounds of love and compassion to our Earth and to all of humanity to bring about a new consciousness.

Iris Pattyn, singer and voice therapist, initiated among others by Lakota healers, and Stéphanie Martens, singer and therapist, who has been leading the ephemeral choir at Villers Abbey for the past two years, invite you to join our voices with those of thousands of people around the world. Iris and Stéphanie will guide you in the practice of songs and sounds. Then Marie Fripiat will perform two songs by Hildegard of Bingen.

Music, a practice dear to Hildegard of Bingen

In the 12th century, the famous visionary abbess and composer St Hildegard of Bingen considered music to be the highest form of human creation, a reflection of the heavenly harmonies and the choir of angels. For this nun, music is the way for man to recover his original vibration and restore divine harmony. Hildegard of Bingen was in contact with the monks of the abbey and the medicinal plants that grow there are a sign of her imprint.
